Planning your work

A practical checklist for your roller shutter quotation

A useful quotation begins with a clear brief. Whether you are discussing a manual shutter, a motor shutter or repair work, the contractor needs to understand the opening and what you want to achieve. A1 Roller Shutter and Engineering Pte Ltd can use the following details to begin a shutter enquiry in Singapore.

1. Define the enquiry

Start with one sentence describing the work: an enquiry about a manual shutter, a motor shutter requirement or a problem with an existing shutter. Include the premises location and the person who can answer questions about access.

Explain what prompted the enquiry. You may be planning a different operating routine, replacing an existing arrangement or reporting a recent fault. Keep must-have requirements separate from preferences so the conversation can focus on what matters most.

2. Show the complete opening

Provide an overview photograph that shows the opening, its sides and the area above it. Add approximate dimensions if you already have them, making clear that they are estimates. Existing drawings can also be useful when available.

For an installed shutter, include the curtain and usual control in your photographs. Share equipment records or a visible label only when they are safely available. Do not climb, remove guards or open an enclosure to gather information for a quotation.

3. Explain how the shutter is used

Describe how often the shutter opens, who normally uses it and whether the opening serves customers, staff or deliveries. If you are considering both manual and motor operation, explain what you hope to improve rather than choosing a system solely from a picture.

For a repair, describe the observed symptom and when it began. A quotation request should not assume a particular failed component before the installation has been assessed.

Send your initial brief to Email A1. You can also call A1 on +65 8284 8364 to discuss which details are available.

4. Include the site arrangements

List the access times that need to be discussed, the building-management contact if applicable and any known restrictions around the opening. Explain whether the premises will remain occupied and whether deliveries need to be coordinated.

Give a preferred timeframe as a request rather than an assumed appointment. Availability and the work programme need to be agreed directly. If approval from a landlord or managing agent may be relevant, clarify who will coordinate it.

5. Ask what the quotation includes

When reviewing a proposal, check that the written scope matches the opening and work discussed. Ask which components or tasks are included, what assessment is still required and which assumptions affect the quotation.

  • Is the proposal for repair, replacement or another agreed scope?
  • Are removal and site access arrangements addressed where relevant?
  • What is excluded or still to be confirmed?
  • What payment terms and scheduling conditions apply?
  • What operating instructions or handover information will be provided?

Keep the agreed details together so changes can be discussed clearly. Explore manual shutters, motor shutters or repair work before preparing your enquiry.
