Start with your daily routine
Write down who opens the shutter, how often it moves and what passes through the opening. Consider the people using the space today as well as changes you already have planned. A shutter is part of an access route, so the choice should work with the way staff, customers and deliveries move around it.
Manual operation involves physical effort. Motor operation uses a drive and controls. Neither description, on its own, tells you whether a particular shutter is suitable. The opening, the equipment and the intended use need to be considered together.
Look at the opening, not just the curtain
A useful overview photograph includes the full opening, its sides and the space above it. If you have existing drawings or approximate opening dimensions, include them in your enquiry. Label estimates clearly; a photograph or an estimate is a starting point rather than a final site measurement.
For a replacement, explain what you want to keep and what is no longer working well. A change in operation may affect more than the motor alone. Avoid assuming that an existing curtain, mounting arrangement or control can simply be reused.
Compare the questions that matter
| Consideration | Manual shutter | Motor shutter |
|---|---|---|
| Operation | Who will operate it, and is the effort suitable? | Where will controls sit, and who will use them? |
| Existing opening | What space and fixing arrangement are available? | How do the opening, drive and controls fit together? |
| Daily access | How often will it be opened and closed? | What movement and access routine does it need to support? |
Talk through both options with A1 on +65 8284 8364, or send the opening details to Email A1. A clear description of the space is more useful than choosing by appearance alone.
If you already have a shutter
Explain whether the enquiry is about a new requirement, a change in operation or an existing fault. If the shutter has become difficult to use, describe when the change began and what you noticed. A repair discussion and a replacement discussion may need different information.
Include an overview and any existing equipment records you have. Do not remove covers or climb to reach a label for the sake of an enquiry. A1 can discuss what information is available and whether a site assessment is needed.
Bring the right information to the next conversation
Prepare the premises location, an overview photo, approximate dimensions if known, the current operating method and your preferred access routine. Tell A1 about any building-management coordination that may be needed before work can be arranged.
Explore manual shutters and motor shutters, or use the quotation checklist to organise your enquiry. The aim is to define the opening and the work clearly before making a choice.
